Soil. "The highest calling demands the deepest grounding"
Summer Poem on rooting, resting, & forming memories that last.
Rooting 🌱 Rooting in all that brought us to the present. Stories. People. Places. Experiences.Â
Pausing and letting roots grow deeper. Forming memories that last.
We’re told to grow tall and fast. Meeting sky-high expectations.
But were we ever told how to water our own roots, take the time to find a solid foundation, slow down?
Summer is for rooting, resting, inhaling the air, bathing in the sun. Building a foundation that can carry us through upcoming seasons.Â
And still, we have all the plans, dreams and lists for the perfect summer. And rush. Frantically. Chasing.
Because we believe it’s not enough what we have, where we are, what we can do right now.Â
How can we do less to experience more?Â
By just being. With no goal.Â
No need to cancel anything. Carving out those little moments for small roots to shoot deeper is enough.
First summer for me where I have no concrete plans and I’m witnessing how ease is slowly and gently washing over me. Nowhere to be. Nothing to do apart from the ordinary day-to-day. Living.
Time to root 🌱
I invite you to embrace what shaped you and form deeper roots instead of rushing through the summer. Rather than reaching for the sky before we have rested, rooted and recovered enough to create whatever calls, slow down.
Where can you slow down more right now?
Especially when it feels counter-intuitive at first, explore why there is the urge to rush.
I felt precisely this over the summer Carmen with no rush to be anywhere but nourishing my soul and processing everything one day at a time. To allow those roots to take place and give them chance to grow.
