Oh I feel you. While we’re still in winter, I love reading about summer experiences- that feels like distant dreams and someone talking from the future to me 🥰
I used to think I was the only one feeling this way until I found so many people on Substack who share the same experience despite being in different parts of the world. I am leaning so much towards calm music, scented candles, morning sun and hot coffee these days and it has kept me going even on difficult days.
Loved reading this post because it resonates with me so much! One of the things that keeps me going in January is that it is my birthday month. I just posted about the good parts of Winter! And I am glad to know that you are a January baby too 😁
Ah this is wonderful Carmen, I wholeheartedly agree with you about embracing and reframing the depths of winter for a much more easeful time. It is a time that I used to resist too but now I really do love (most!) of it, even the weather feels much more tolerable and I love the excuse to cosy up at home of course. Thank you so much for including A Storied Home in winter in your ways to thrive, I really appreciate it xx
Loving winter “mostly” sums it up so well, there’s no season without its challenges is there? And of course, your lovely words are always balm for the soul xx
This was such a joy to read then a lovely surprise to see you've mentioned the journaling club - thanks so much! I used to loath this time of year too, it's still tricky in parts but I've made so much peace with it
This is just perfect, Carmen. I feel all of this so deeply, but I also need to hear it as well. So, thank you so much for being that quiet, gentle voice that whispers to me in the January darkness to just be here - and to love whatever gifts the rest of the month has to give. Your suggestions and chosen words for reframing are so spot on and were deep inspiration for my soul. Thanks, love. Happy cozy-ing! xx
Thank you Liz, as always, for being here! I, too, think that reading other’s reflections on similar experiences are a beautiful opportunity to view what’s in front of us from different angles and perspectives. Happy cozy-ing to you too! Xx
Carmen you are too, too kind to mention my little space here! I *love* so many things on here: running a salt bath is top of my list of things to do when I get home tomorrow; it sounds so luxurious and that is what I need after a busy week.
Enjoy your salt bath, can imagine how relaxing it must be after your week of PhD research away from home! 🛁 I’m currently travelling and have the most gorgeous and totally unexpected bathtub in our hotel room. I bought some salt earlier and look forward to enjoying a warm bath too 😅
Yeahhh the Blue Mkonday talk doesn't apply to us. It's Summer down here, but also Tuesday already ;) maybe that's a fun mantra to repeat when none of your strategies (also, great links!) work: It's Summer Down Under
Loved reading this Carmen, you know I’m all about this too!
I’m strangely feeling very energetic this month compared to usual and I had the epiphany that my youngest is turning 2 in only 3 weeks … there’s a massive shift happening in the girls development and I’m really excited about it ✨
Happy happy birth month and even more excited for Wednesday!!! (Don’t know if it’s public so I didn’t want to be more precise 🫣) sending you all the love for a smooth loving week 🥰🥰💖💖
Ohhh I can imagine that things shift for you with the little one becoming a full human with personality leaving the baby times completely behind. Do you feel nostalgic or only exited about what’s to come?💃
I love that we can lean into our energy and use it to our benefit - whatever that may mean individually. Ride the energy wave, lucky you! Since I spent the first 2 weeks sick in bed, I’m a bit all over the place energy and brain wise. At the same time riding all the waves this month and celebrating the fun bits ❤️
Right now I’m just feeling excited actually, but had serious baby fever and nostalgia some months ago haha, have no idea if it’ll swing back again though I’m really enjoying what I’m feeling right now… like blooming into a new face of rediscovering myself again (though they’re still home with me fulltime haha)
Sickness never comes in a good moment hey! Thankfully it’s hopefully better now and so so much fun to come 💐💖✨🙌
I’ve heard it often from other mums how the different stages of motherhood are incredibly transformative and bring out so many new sides, ideas and creativity(when ride the waves and don’t resist and force what’s not flowing I suppose) ❤️✨ so excited for you!!
It's not winter here, but I loved reading this post - will definitely be tucking these ideas away for the cooler months!

For you it’s probably hot Monday and all about what trick works best to stay cool? 😂
Haha pretty much!! ;) let the postcard Club know if you need analogue connections okay?
