Thank you Tugba! Words of encouragement I needed as, while not a significant number, more people than usual unsubscribed after I had sent the email out. 💕
Excited to see how you’ll use these features and make them work for you!
As great as recommendations are, they can really confuse subscribers. For example, my friend told me that she clicked through to subscribe to a Substack author but only realised afterwards that she had also subscribed to other people and had to unsubscribe once those people posted something. This could also explain why people unsubscribe after every post, as this keeps happening to me, too!
I’m pleased to hear that! Like everything, it takes practice and repetition.
Not sure if it’s of interest to you, but I’m running an online free workshop on 6th October on adding voiceover to Substack posts. I’ll be covering the different approaches, equipment etc. The luma link is in my latest post 😊
Thank you Hannah! 😊 I signed up. Not sure if I’ll be able to join live, we might be hiking in the alps that weekend. But maybe there’ll be a recording I can catch?
Your photos are gorgeous! And honestly, summer has been chaotic and so has the beginning of the school year. I am very much trying to tie up "loose ends" so I can have a much calmer late autumn and winter.
It is lovely to hear your voice! It is nice to know about your summer highlights and also the transition to autumn. I love all the pictures in your post. It is only after moving to Germany that I have experienced such a change in the seasons and I love every little bit of it. I do miss the sunshine when days get really gloomy. This summer was quite hectic for me in terms of work and I feel bad that I couldn't make the best of it. But I had 2 wonderful trips this summer- a trip to Slovenia and a sailing trip in the North Sea. Both were wonderful with lots of nature.
Your holidays sound amazing, Reema! And I totally feel you about the gloomy days, they aren’t easy. What I try do is make these as cozy / cute as possible so they feel more bearable and I’m less resistant. My fiance is amazed by the 4 seasons here too, even in the UK he didn’t have them as distinct .
Oh gosh, I’m yet to visit Scotland but I expect it to be rather rough and dark (in a cozy way) over the winter months? Sending you sunshine from Munich this weekend! X
We are in a lovely area of Scotland so we don’t get huge amounts of rain, but it can get very cold and misty… so perfect for settling down with a book! 😊
Autumn is also a reflection period for me! I think it’s the change of seasons and the fact that my birthday is this month, the day after the official start of fall. It’s like my “new year”. I love this time of year. Nice post!
I’m so with you Carmen on ignoring the Halloween and Christmas vibes - I was horrified that mince pies were in stores 4 weeks ago - yes, yes, yes it’s too early.
But I do love autumn. It’s my favourite time of year for the crispy air and the bold and soft colour changes. In summer I have to wear SPF50 being ice white Irish ☘️ and I’m always glad to see the back of sun cream 😝
I could and would (if I could) sit and watch birds all day. Do you have a favourite? Wishing you a bird filled weekend 🍁✨
Ohhh I am not sad about leaving SPF in the drawers now too. Well, at least the high one. For hikes in the alps you kind of have to put sun screen on every season, especially also when it’s snowing.
I couldn’t possibly pick a favourite bird. That would be mean to the rest. 😅 but I do think Robins are cute. 😇 wishing you a beautiful autumn weekend too, Beverley!
This resonated with me so much. We're always rushing onto the next thing, aren't we? I love how you framed these in-between seasons as a time for reflection and integration. It's a reminder to slow down and appreciate the present moment, even as we transition into something new.
So lovely to hear your voice, Carmen 🥰 So soothing! I've decided to play around with voice and video, too.

Oh yes that’s a really good point, I realised that too. When not careful you end up signing up to various “similar” publications.
So lovely to hear your voice, Carmen! I'm so pleased you went for it and made this voice over. Did you enjoy it?
Thank you Hannah! It was a lovely challenge (that came with some wobbles and doubts). But I’ll be back either way 😇

I am planning to record!

This could have been my summer, minus the start of the school year. What a whirlwind, we’re ready for a slower season, aren’t we?

I am looking forward to Autumn, but I am definitely missing some of the sun up here in Scotland! ☀️

Happy birthday month to you Alexis! For sure many great things coming together in this new year vibes month. ✨🍂 thank you for reading :)

Thank you Alexander for reading. Indeed, no matter where, we often seem to be rushing to the next thing and once there, we don’t stop but rush further
So lyrical yourl voice and essay! I'm in a season of transition too. Loveeee me a good stew. I'm looking forward to that and all your future essays 💜
Yassss another stew fan 🙌 what’s your favourite type? I love veggie with some beef - slow cooked.
So sweet of you, thank you for the compliment, Mohika! 😍
