Welcome home!
How did I find my way here?
Me? Or are you sometimes talking to yourself, too?
Either way, that’s a wonderful question and I’m glad we’re both here now.
We’re both here because any of this resonates and we are longing for more:
You wouldn’t mind a bit more quiet, new inspiration and deep nourishment for your mind and heart, gentle on the nervous system instead of time-and energy-consuming content.
Exhaustion may be real at times as a mother, a 9-5 corporate employee, a creative, writer and every other role in between and beyond that you may call yours. You crave fully lived experiences and want your selfcare to be intuitive and not a task list of things. You seek more than 5 tips for x, or how to solve y type of ideas.
Fellow lover of words! You believe words are more than just lined-up letters, you love reading and get energised by good books, blogs, articles and Substacks of course…
You want to read stories to remember. You’re curious about what shapes our human experience, our identity, what shapes belonging and rooting in ourselves and a place. A mix of written interviews, anecdotal stories, and research including about rest & recovery, rituals & rhythms and all that we need to feel more rooted in this noisy world.
Holistic views and new ideas that make you feel more human again are welcome in your inbox / on your Substack feed. Humanness = community. Community = my corner on Substack. That’s why I also created The Writer Village, as stories aren’t created in isolation and we need a village to spread them. And I am the host of Resting Circles, which will return to the Zoom world in 2024.
You feel seen, it sounds like you?
Yes! Welcome to this wonderful world of like-minded rooted human being!
What you can expect
Here on Substack, I write about what it means to create a modern, nourishing, and mindful life at my own pace. I explore what shapes culture and society all while aiming to foster a deeper connection between the lovely humans in this corner of the internet and offline.
Stories from my balancing act between the fast-paced city life and tech job and the intentional aspects at a slower pace and countryside moments that I hold dearly. Reflections blended from living life, plus years of research, trainings, corporate well-being work, and reading on feminine health, rhythms, and rituals that can function as an alternative to productivity and optimization marathons and our oh-so-great hustle culture.
You’ll find the perspective of someone who’s lived in multiple countries and changed career from academia to non-profit to startups to larger tech organizations, all while being a women’s well-being mentor and yoga teacher, sound therapist, and community builder. Sounds like the lifespan of an 80-year-old, well, I’m 30.
My promise to you:
You’ll find various formats and always-evolving content.
I let creativity guide me. That means I don’t follow any trends and guidelines.
I don’t want to create more noise. I only write when I know I can add value. I respect your time, honour your inbox and deeply care for our both mental well-being!
Nuance.
And because no About Page isn’t quite complete without a boring bio, here are
…a few hopefully not-so-boring facts about me
📍I’m Carmen. Hi! Carmen Luisa to be precise. Named after the Opera Carmen and my grandma, Aloisia (Luise). Born in the Bavarian (south German) countryside nestled at the feet of the Alps.
🏠 Ex-Londoner (read why I left here), ex-Tel-Aviv, Berlin and Sydney city dweller. Now building a life between Munich and the countryside.
💻 By day at home in the tech world, I empower teams at Europe’s most well-known brands to transform the way they work and collaborate. Mindful productivity and smart work management are the stuff I love. I am living and breathing cyclical living and business and will sprinkle in some could-try ideas.
✍️ I write in the moonlight, well, not literally but it sounds nicer than I write outside of my normal working hours and most often when I should be going to bed.
